Lisa Jaggi (Toddler)
Well, here I am in Canada... thousands of kilometres away from home, back to my husband’s childhood haunt, to live a snowy winter life...
Sending Jet off to live with his Grandparents for 5 ½ months, Andy working at a local ski area, and Tarn and I trying to integrate into a new place has provided a fair few challenges. We have coped with cracked skin due to the dry air, many a slippery ‘thud’ onto icy footpaths, driving on the right (and in my opinion, wrong) side of the road, living without marmite on toast, and pretty much just trying to survive without out our cheerleading squad of family and friends back home.
No, seriously….we have actually had a blast! Although it’s not always easy ‘taking off’ and living away from what is familiar and comfortable, as a family we have had the opportunity to do loads of exciting things here in Canada. I have enjoyed some breathtaking powder skiing days, and by bundling up, managed to head out on numerous winter adventures with Tarn and Andy as eager sidekicks!
Tarn’s favourite new tricks include catapulting lumps of snow out of trees, launching himself head-first into the deepest snow drift, monopolising the slide at playgroup, and achieving mach 3 with his dad on a plastic sled - clearly not designed to reach such speeds! All in all, I’ve discovered that ‘kids will be kids’ where ever in the world you take them, it’s just about making the most of the experience!
