It's Raining...It's Pouring!

23 August 2008
Lisa Jaggi (Toddler)

Rain, rain, rain….then some snow….then rain, rain, rain again.  Yep, the old man is definitely snoring in Raurimu.  Apart from a couple of sunny patches to remind us that that big ball of flaming warmth does actually exist, the weather has settled into a pretty predictable winter pattern.

So what do we do to keep one rambunctious toddler and one pregnant lady entertained?  Well for a start we don’t allow it to confine us to the four cosy walls of our fire heated house….we go out!  Outside into the falling drops, enveloped in layers of waterproof fabric and gumboots!

The mountain buggy has been our savior this winter, it means we can get out in any sort of weather…brave the elements and get some fresh air into our lungs.  Even though Tarn insists on walking at the beginning of each walk with the persistent whine of “Walk, walk, waaaaalllllkkkkkkkk!” resonating through our little valley, it always turns into “Push, push, puuuuuussssshhhhh!”  which means the buggy goes hurtling down the road in all directions with Tarn stationed behind it in his usual pushing position.  Inevitably the ‘pushing call’ turns into Tarn pleading “Buggy, buggy, buuuuggggyyyy!” and he ends up in the buggy with his little tired legs wrapped up in the dry warmth of his buggy rest-nest.

What would I do without my buggy???
